The Lighthouse of Alexandria
The Lighthouse of Alexandria
GOAL The goal of Pharos is to prevent the opponent’s stones from moving.
SETUP A color for each player is chosen at random. The stones are automatically placed on the starting fields. Five stones of each color are off the field and serve as light sources atop the beacon fields once activated.
GAMEPLAY White begins and has to make a movement. After that, Red takes their turn. Players can move one stone per turn (chains/multiple moves are possible if light allows).
MOVEMENT Stones cannot move by themselves. Instead, stones of the same color can send off light horizontally or vertically to make the chosen stone move one field horizontally or vertically. After sending out light, a stone turns dark for the rest of this turn, making it unable to send out more light. Light can move through several stones of the same color provided they are not interrupted by opponent forces.
ATTACK You can remove an opponent's stone by occupying its field. Multiple attacks are possible in the same turn.
BEACONS In the beginning, all five beacons are unlit. Once a stone enters the beacon field, it is light in the color of the stone, sending out one additional light like a regular stone. This light cannot be interrupted by opponent stones in sight but it may change color once the opponent enters the beacon field. The beacon cannot send light directly to the stone on the same field.
END Once a player is unable to move, the other player is declared the winner.
